RingBurst Hike
The "Fire from the Sky" hike during RingBurst 2000. The brave (foolish?)
participants of the Ringberg conference on Starbursts
Near and Far took a break from the lecture hall and found a real Cloud
Burst. This beautiful setting is in the Tyrolean Alps, Austria, about an
hour's drive from the Ringberg Castle (site of the conference) near Tegernsee
in the Bavarian Alps of southern Germany. The last images shown here were
taken on the summit just seconds before the sky opened up with an impressive
show of lightening, rain, and hail. Everyone made it down safe and dried
out in the restaurant below, but that's another story...
