Highlights

The Tour of Gemini South

The January 2004 AAS Meeting

The 2003 REU and PIA students presented poster papers at the January 2004 meeting of the American Astronomical Society in Atlanta, Georgia. For most it was their first experience at a large astronomical conference, but they quickly learned the important parts of attending such a meeting. At right, Ryan Peterson and Abner Zapata next to Ryan's poster.

After putting up one's poster, the next task is to explain it to interested passers-by. Below, Rodrigo, Lara and Rebecca hard at work.

Personal interaction is the heart of the meeting. At left, Katherine interacts; at right, most of the group, bundled up for winter in Atlanta (much different in climate from summer in La Serena!).
