The Program in Progress: Observing on the 0.9-meter and touring Gemini

During the week-long observing run on the CTIO 0.9-meter telescope, all students perform all the functions: deciding what to observe next, moving the telescope, and taking data.

Of course, every observing night begins with a sunset.

Right, Dr. Bernadette Rodgers describes some of the controls of the Gemini 8-meter telescope to the students. Below, the students investigate the dome and the main mirror.
