"Pluto's Atmosphere: The Quest
to Find CO" |
|
We will discuss Pluto's N2-dominated atmosphere from its discovery in 1988 to the changes in the atmosphere we see today, including the importance of the trace atmospheric species CO and CH4. We will also discuss our previous attempts to detect CO in Pluto's atmosphere, why we believe it to be present and why we think we will detect it now. Finally, we will discuss how the science achieved by these observations are important to the New Horizons mission to Pluto and its arrival in 2015. |
