"Probing the Nature of Low Luminosity YSOs"

Sensitive observations with the Spitzer Space Telescope have revealed a previously hidden population of low luminosity protostars, difficult to understand with current star formation theories. In spite of similar mid infrared properties these objects show a wide variety of other physical and observational characteristics, making their nature difficult to understand. We will discuss several strategies for characterizing these objects, and show recent results from near infrared and sub-mm studies of these objects.
