"The Smallest Stars: Their Role
in the Universe" |
|
Low-mass stars and brown dwarfs are the most numerous objects produced during the star formation process. Thus, we need to study these small, dim stars in order to fully understand the mechanisms behind that process. In particular, I will prese nt the results from a Bayesian statistical analysis of the low-mass IMF and binary systems. I will use these results in an attempt to constrain current star format ion simulations. Additionally, the importance of these low-mass objects in the co ntext of other astronomical sub-fields will be examined. |
