"Fluid Dynamics of Stellar Jets in Real Time"

Young stars eject powerful supersonic jets as a byproduct of accreting material from their surrounding protoplanetary disks. By observing these jets over a timespan of decades with the Hubble Space Telescope, our team has put together a series of movies that reveal which fluid dynamical processes dominate in these systems. This talk will present the movies, and discuss recent complimentary experiments at the Omega laser facility which explore similar fluid dynamical processes in a laboratory environment.
