GSAOI is to be the workhorse near-infrared imager used with the GeMS MCAO system. GSAOI was delivered to Gemini South in 2006 and is now being made ready for integration with GeMS. This talk will provide an overview of the science that is planned for GSAOI+GeMS, it will describe the GSAOI instrument in detail, and it will highlight some operational issues that are yet to be resolved. This is general talked aimed at both astronomical and engineering staff as an introduction to this new instrument. |
