The Magellanic Clouds offer an alternative and near scenario to investigate the mechanisms of the galaxy formation and evolution. However due to their large sizes it is difficult to reach global information about them. This motivated us to carry on a project devoted to sample the stellar populations of the Magellanic Clouds by imaging and spectroscopy of a large number of wide fields at different galactocentric distances. I will discuss our current results on the star formation and chemical enrichment histories of these galaxies. |
