The first phase of the implementation of this project is completed. The library has been reorganized so that all the reference books, publications, catalogs and current journals are located in Lower Library Area. The Staff Tea area has been reestablished temporarily in what will become its final location after the rest of the construction is completed. All periodic journals from the 2008 and older have been removed. One complete set of the journal collection will be established at the Round Office Building on Cerro Tololo, and hard copies of these journals will be available by request from the Librarian. All 2009 and newer journals are still located in the library. The book shelves have been disassembled and removed from the area to become the casino.

The next phases of the project will be modifications to the casino area. In general, the scope of this work will include removal of the existing carpet and replacement with ceramic floor tiles, construction of a wall to enclose the lower library area and seperate it from the new casino area, construction of the outdoor patio area and door, installation of the kitchen area appurtenances, and utility work.
