REDUCTION of Cross-Dispersed IRS DATA

This directory contains IRAF scripts for performing reductions of IRS data taken with the cross-dispersor. The manual, written in TeX, is included as well as a postscript version: xdispred.tex and xdispred.ps.

In addition it contains some other files:

• irflux.f - fortran program for creating model spectra for stars used as flux standards.
• straightv2.f - fortran program for straightening curved, cross-dispersed spectra.
• irlines - list of sky lines used for wavelength calibration
• argon.list - list of comparison lamp lines (mixture of He, Ne Ar) for wavelength calibration

A tar file of all the files is also included for efficient ftp'ing.

The package was written by Richard Elston originally for use with the OSIRIS instrument. We are not in a position to fully support the package at this time but believe that at least it provides a model for the reduction process. However, I would like to receive comments from users reporting problems or suggesting ways to improve the package or the documentation.
