OSIRIS Commands

The following are Prospero scripts which have been "aliased" in the standard observer login procedure so that they may be used directly from the Prospero command window. The scripts are stored in the ~osiris/Scripts directory where they may be modified or copied to make new commands. These Prospero scripts are available at the CTIO 1.5m and 4m telescopes only, but could easily be modified and used at other Prospero installations.

Telescope Setup

focus		semi-automatically focus the telescope (4m only)
change_focus	set the telescope focus (4m only)

Instrument Calibration and Setup

min		move the calibration mirror into the beam
mout		move the calibration mirror out of the beam
fastlamp	take a HeNeAr calibration spectrum
linproc		take a linearity sequence
focuscam	focus the internal OSIRIS cameras

Basic Observing Mode

f3		setup in basic imaging or acquire mode with the f/2.8 (lores) camera
f3spec		setup in basic spectroscopic mode with the f/2.8 (lores) camera
xdimage		setup in acquire mode when using XD spectroscopic mode
xdspec		setup in basic XD spectroscopic mode
f7		setup in basic imaging or acquire mode with the f/7 (hires) camera
f7spec		setup in basic spectroscopic mode with the f/7 (hires) camera

Tip Tilt Control

tte		turn on tip tilt corrections
ttd		turn off tip tilt corrections
gue		turn on guide corrections
gud		turn off guide corrections
alle		turn on guide and tip tilt corrections
alld		turn off guide and tip tilt corrections

Acquisition and Observing Setup

askpars		query for basic observing parameters
center		center the telescope on the object, center the object on the slit
zcenter		zero point the center parameters
wipe		take junk frames to clear the HgCdTe detector "memory"

Observing

do_grid		take a series of images in a NxM grid pattern
slitscan	take a series of spectra along the slit
abbaper	 	take a series of spectra on (object) and off (sky) the slit.
abbans	 	take a series of images on the object and sky (north or south offset).
