Photometry of Floodlights and a Light Pollution Diagnostic

One of the major sources of light pollution of the sky are floodlights.
These are generally provided with large lamps which are aimed over
the horizontal, causing a great amount of lumens to travel directly into
the sky.

Photometric data help lighting engineers and designers take care of
this situation. A specific photometric reference system, B-Beta, is
suggested in order to facilitate the determination of the maximum
allowed aiming angle. The system should be used even for those
reflectors that present rotational distribution..
