As part of their activity in formulating improved research and
documentation, the  IESNA formed a new committee to review
current definitions of  exterior luminare light distributions but
especially those used in road lighting. One of the key categories
is that relating to light pollution combined with other benefits
obtained when good lighting techniques are employed.

Preliminary work in this area will be described.
