Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory (CTIO), part of the National Optical Astronomy Observatory (NOAO), based in La Serena, Chile, provides southern hemisphere observing facilities for the American astronomical community. NOAO is operated by the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA), Inc. under cooperative agreement with the National Science Foundation.
