A fund has been established to assist the Schommer family in meeting the future educational expenses of their children Robert, Andrea, and Paulina. Friends and colleagues are invited to contribute to this fund, which is a Fidelity Investments/529 Savings Plan. The beneficiary of the account is Robert Schommer and the participant is Maria Iris Labra.

We gathered to celebrate Bob Schommer's life and his contributions to our lives, both professional and personal. This gathering was held jointly in Tucson, La Serena, Hilo, and on Cerro Tololo -- all linked by video -- on Wednesday, December 19, at 8.30/11.30/15.30 Hilo/Tucson/Chile. It also included participation via telephone from Baltimore, MD (STScI) and Columbus, OH (OSU), if not many more.

We mourn the loss of our good friend and colleague, Bob Schommer, who died the morning of December 12, 2001.
The wake will be at Lourdes church on December 13, starting around 5:30pm. His funeral service will take place December 14th at 10:00am at Lourdes church, and from there the cortege will leave for the English cemetery in Guayacan.

Bob Schommer será velado el 13 de Diciembre en la iglesia de Lourdes desde alrededor de las 5:30pm. La misa será el 14 de Diciembre a las 10:00 y posteriormente los funerales se efectuarán en el cementerio Inglés de Guayacán.
