new QE shuttering technique

John and others,
	The Ion pump idea sounds great...only I think we 
have been getting this result without trying with our 
super-clean Oxford Instruments dewars. We are now baking and 
cleaning everything in sight.... Paricularly like the idea 
of a data throttle... Any chance of devising a device for 
speeding it up!
