CCD connectors

Olaf,

We often use connectors for flexible printed circuit (FPC) in dewar
at cryogenic temperature or at room temperature. We used 1.0mm pitch
and 0.5mm pitch FPC connectors. As far as I can recall, we did not
have any troubles with them. They are really nice zero-insertion force
connectors and very small. I really hate both Nanonics and Micro Dsub
connectors. Nanonics are ok in size but they have very large insertion
fources. Micro-D subs also require large insertion forces. (Of coruce,
this problem can be solved by using proper pushing screws.) And for
the mosaic CCDs of 10K x 10K size, handling individual wires for
either Nanonics or MincroDsub is a big trouble. The FPC and the
connector for FPC provide very compact and nice way to run signals for
large mosaic CCDs.

	Best regards,
