Hello, Dorn,
Roger Smith of CTIO, has described a compact stabilized pulsed LED source
in his paper presented at a workshop on "Optical Detectors for Astronomy"
at ESO, Garching in 1996. You may refer to the paper "How linear are
typical CCDs" by Roger M Smith in the proceedings of this workshop.
